I started playing when I was 8 years old under the teaching of Raymond Garaïalde, teacher at Chantaco and La Boulie in winter. He was the father of Michel Garaïalde, also a teacher and golf player, and of the very famous Jean Garaïalde who remains one of the best French players of all time. He has also been the teacher of a large number of professionals. The Basque Coast was considered the birthplace of golf in France.

I had a group of friends like those whose photos you see on this page, like the Frayssineau brothers, Jacques Mourgue d'Algue, France Boulard, Alexis Godillot, René-Philippe Blanchy, Catherine Leven and many others including you will see the names, which made me take a liking to golf in addition to partners like Bernard Pascassio, Dominique and Jean-Michel Larretche, Jean Delgado, Raymond Telleria who were caddies in Chantaco and played golf remarkably. In fact, they have all become pros. This allowed me to play men's tees a lot, which is very beneficial as it requires a hard hitting. In addition, the frequent games with Kiki Larretche and his friends taught me all the tricks for playing easy and difficult moves. Kiki, aside from being the great friend he always has been, has been another teacher to me without really being!
